Everyone knows about the lucky 4-leaf clover, a mutation of the more common 3-leaf clover.  For every 10,000 3-leaf clovers there is one four-leaf, which makes the chance of finding one nearly impossible.

They are hard to find, but once found the payoff is worth it. It’s simple, keep the clover and receive good luck for the whole year. According to myth, if the clover is discarded, bad omens will befall you for the rest of the year.

“If I found a 4-leaf clover I would keep it and tape it in a book,” said Lacy Nowak, a firm believer in the luck it brings.

While some students, aspire to harbor the leaf’s luck others hope to use the luck in hope of receiving good health for a close family member. The four-leaf clovers are believed to have healing powers. According to an ancient legend, priests used this plant for rituals and to ward off evil spirits. “If I found a 4-leaf clover I would wish for my aunt to be free of her Alzheimer disease,” said Dreama Nuxoll, another believer.

For those that have found this lucky leaf, these bask in glory and those that haven’t continue to search every spring.
