Is our lunch room getting too crowded?

Do you think our lunch room is too crowded? Classes are let out at different times before the lunch period begins so the lines don’t get too long and so students have enough time to eat.

Cosmetology students are let out at 11:25, along with career center students at 11:30 just so they can get in class on time at the career center.

Ten minutes before the bell only three classes are let out, five minutes later five more classes are let out, another five minutes five more are let out, then at the bell at 11:43 the five classes that are left are able to go to lunch. Even by letting these classes out at different times, the lines can still be long at times. The normal lunch time is from 11:43 a.m. to 12:13 p.m.

Students are having trouble finding a place to sit in the cafeteria. Whether it’s not having enough tables or chairs at a table, or not enough room to sit with friends, it seems like the lunch room is overcrowded.

“There’s always going to be a problem with kids not having a place to sit because they don’t all fit in certain social groups,” Mr. Steven Medlock said.

Carly Zoller thinks that lunch should be staggered. For example, freshman and juniors go at this time, then when they are done sophomore and seniors could go to lunch.  Then if not that… Hailie Humphries says, “Add more tables and chairs. Make the cafeteria bigger by taking out the theater chair because people could just sit at regular tables.”

This would solve both. The lines being too long and students not having a certain place to sit.
