Megan Cole and Lauren McIntosh are two competitive runners for the South Ripley Cross Country team. Their running season recently came to an end on December 10, where they competed in the USATF Cross Country Junior Olympics in Hoover, Alabama.

They are apart of the Southeastern Indiana All-Stars, which is an organization that offers local youth runners the chance to compete at the state, region, and national levels. It also allows for athletes from several different schools to come together and form a team of dedicated runners. The team consisted of runners from South Ripley, Rising Sun, Jac-Cen-Del, and East Central. For the past six years, the Southeastern Indiana All-Stars has allowed for several different athletes to compete in different parts of the country.

Overall, the girls’ team won the State and Region 7 meets and placed 7th at the National Meet. Competing in the 15-16 age group was Megan Cole with a time of 19:52 and placing 11th, and competing in the 17-18 age group was Lauren McIntosh with a time of 26:54 and placing 39th overall.

Megan Cole was also named All-American by placing in the Top 25 of her age group. She received special medals, a mug, and a USATF Jr. Olympics All-American hat.

Both Cole and McIntosh were able to represent South Ripley and compete in this race of both endurance and desire.
